Its time to get ready for the 70th Destin Fishing Rodeo by attending the general membership meeting at 5pm on Jan 25, 2018 at AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar.
Even though we just completed the last rodeo last Oct its time get prepared for the next one where The Destin Rodeo Fishing executive director Helen Donaldson said, “We’re looking for the 70th Rodeo to be the best ever,”
The rodeo takes the entire month of October bringing in over 35,000 anglers from all over the United States vying for cash and prizes.
The Rodeo is run by volunteers and it’s a non-profit organization focusing on three areas: Promote recreational fishing within Destin, FL, add to the towns mantra of “The Worlds Luckiest Fishing Village” and foster great sportsmanship with safe recreational and organized fishing.
The Rodeo is open to all existing members as well as seeking new memberships with a fee of $25 for individuals and $35 for family memberships. Complimentary hors d’ oeuvres and beverages will be served along with a cash bar.
Members at the meeting will get a chance to volunteer for several committees including the Rules and Awards, Sponsorship and the Miss Destin Pageant to name just a few.
There will be three new directors elected as well including candidates such as John Brashears, Curt Gwin and Chris Schofield. Voting is limited to members in good standing along with possible write-ins.
“If you’ve ever wanted to be a part of the Rodeo, now is the time,” Donaldson said.
